I still think it’s worth reading both versions side by side all the way through. The nature of “revelation” fascinates me. The Bundytes up Oregon way say that they too are running on revelation. I hope somebody’s writing it all down.

Thanks St. Ralph, your observation is accurate, yes, revelation is still alive but not from the Pharisees. I too hope it’s being cronicled, the Bundy’s are the avant guard of a new revelation revival, ref:

If the Bundymoanians can hold out till spring the Harley People will come to save the day.
It will be history, Better than Alta Mont, but with more AR15 rifles and Constitutional shibboleths ringing in the air.
Here’s hoping it will all be sorted out in the end. This is much like bad computer code, garbage in, garbage out but with folks that are all hat and no cattle.

I didn’t know the Branch HarleyDavidians frequented the area. That could be entertainment on a whole ‘nuther level: Sons of Anarchy meet Mayberry RFD. Maybe that’s what the Federales are waiting for: “Those Angels—the ones with the flaming swords?—came thundering outta the bush and smote ’em all ‘fore we could get there. Damn.”

D&C 17 is probably worth taking a second look at. It is key to understanding the behind the scenes narrative of the book of mormon witnesses. Here is a reddit thread with more.

Wow. That is pretty blatant (the comparison of D&C 17 with the witness statement). It makes one wonder how belief in church lore and doctrine was ever sustained long enough for it to catch on. Those folks must have wanted desperately to believe. Which I don’t get, but hey, that’s me.

Desperate to Believe is buried in the touch of the tongue to spiritual Kool Aid.

NAKED MORMONISM has produced research on the founding of the Mormons (The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints); the damning expose is noteworthy to all americans. We, The Americans need to know what has been spawned in the name of Free Will and Religious Promiscuity.

Bryce’s research and conjecture is a benchmark for The Mormon Experience.
I’m looking forward to his forthcoming book.
        His effort deserves your attention.
Please do listen, the rewards are huge.

As a kid, our family did read the whole D&C cover to cover. After reading these sections, my dad justified it by saying that god has the same message for everyone. Like, he knows us all individually, but he wants us all to do the same thing.

Are there any gluttons for punishment out there with 30 minutes to kill? You could do worse than watch a 1960’s church propaganda film about the Three Witnesses of the golden plates – Martin Harris, Oliver Cowdery, and David Whitmer. It’s liberally peppered with bad acting and terrible old-age makeup, of course, and overflowing with sketchy church history, too!

“But I never said that!” indeed, Mr. Whitmer…
